Adavi Local Government Administrator, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami has banned the outing of Achuchi masquerade during Ekwuechi festival in Adavi LGA.
Hon. Joseph Salami stated this at the end of the council’s peace and security meeting at Adavi council hall Ogaminana.
He stated that the peace and security of the Adavi people is more paramount than individual’s interest and called on the leaders of Aniku clan to call their youths to order.
Adavi Administrator directed Aniku clan president and clan Traditional ruler to mediate properly on the lingering crisis between Adanuji and Achuchu groups as the two masquerades belong to the clan.
He directed the security agents to brace up for the security surveillance in Adavi LGA on the day of Ekwuechi festival to ensure that there is no breach of he peace of Adavi people.
He assured Adavi people that he will report to the approximate authority as any person or group that flout the ban order will be made to face full wrath of the law.
In their remarks, the Asema of Aniku. HRH Alh. Hamzat Ojimogo and General President of Aniku clan, Daudu Alh. Ahmed Obeito said the Two masquerades (Achuchu and Adanuji) are for them as the circumstances that led to the death of custodian of Adanuji in Febuary this year was questionable and taboo broken in Ebiraland.
They called on Achuchu group to use this year to sympathize and console Adanuji group on the unfortunate incident to obey the ban order.
The two Aniku leaders frowned at the two groups for not keeping them informed of the lingering crisis between them that is now a security threat to Adavi people.
In his contribution, the spokesperson of Achuchu, Mr. Sadiq Isah said the group had no hand in the unfortunate incident of Adanuji as they were not aware of the planned rumour of reprisal attack on Achuchu.
Mr. Isaila Adagu, Chairman of Adanuji group reminded the people that all of them should given this year as a mark of respect to the death of the custodian of Adanuji as they are still sober over the incident.
